"Thank you for your reassurance Loki, but my mother is not as young as she used to be... i doubt her legs could carry her very far very fast." Ren said.
She examined the spot again and decided her plan of action, "Yes, Akelina, i would like to investigate. I can go alone or with company, but neither way will bring me much comfort."
She thought about her mother and the territory they had shared for so long; the trees and caves and rivers, she knew every step of the old territory. Why this? Why now? "I suppose we should climb back down. But I assure you that it is much easier to get down."
Ren went to the edge of the rock and stretched her body on the warm surface. With a kick from her back legs she was sent sliding down the rock, front paws first. She hit the ground with grace and looked up at the other two expectantly. Even in the midst of such bad fortune, Ren got a little bit of pleasure from knowing they would follow her. She had friends now.

((Sorry for the delayed post ^^'))
Akelina slipped, slithered and slid right back down the cliff-face, landing rather ungracefully on three paws and having to hop a few steps before she managed to place the fourth one down firmly. She shook her pelt to get her ruffled fur back into place and glanced over her shoulder to see if Loki would be following her.
All the while, thoughts of Fire were rushing round her head, burning up her mind. What was it? Why did it happen? What did it look like? And why....why was it so dangerous? She didn't like to admit it, but she felt a frightening sense of morbid curiousity about this new, mysterious element. The thought scared her a little, making the hairs on her back rise slightly and her tail bristle like a bottlebrush. She shoved the ideas firmly from her mind and glanced to Ren.
The white tiger still looked most worried, and Akelina immediately felt guilty and greatly sickened with herself about her former thoughts - how could she think these things when the life of her friend's mother and home could be at stake? It was not like her....she shook her head and tried to think of something else, dwelling instead on how her little legs would cope with a journey that looked a lot further than she had travelled before....but she would travel it. For her friend's sake.

Loki did indeed follow down after them h bounded down with ease, it was always better to let gravity help you down and to go with it rather than fight it. He landed squarely near to Ren. He knew that visiting this place would bring back his deepest memories and possibly cause him some heart ache but he would go with his new friends.
At first Reniko had attracted him as someone he could use his charms over and have an evening of fun. But he had met his match and after spending the night and early morning with these two he now felt much different. He felt that Akelina was a sweet feline and she had accetped him as a friend and he her. She was now considered a close aquaintance and he would be friends with her from now on. With Reniko he felt more attracted to her rather than seeing her as a object of lust. He felt for her current situation and wanted to be there to comfort her and help. Whether or not she felt similarly for him he didn't mind he just wanted to be there for his two close friends.
He sensed Akelina's confusion about fire and also wanting to be there for Reniko. He gave her a smile too knowing all to well how she might react when she saw the embers of the forest.

Ren started walking toward the place where she saw the fire remains; it would be a days walk at least. She was unconcerned with her two companions at the moment, all that mattered was that they were following her. Jumping over a fallen tree she thought about her mother, who was probably not on this earth anymore.
The jungle seemed to whisper threats of death to her as she continued on her path. This fire had clearly devastated more creatures than just members of her family. She wondered if she would be forced to speak with her uncle Klave; she had always been annoyed by him. He was one of those cats that was out for only himself; he would have watched the fire burn from safety and not think about the threat to his brother's mate.
Klave was older than Ren's father, Korrikk, but still in the range of being considered young for a tiger, he acted younger than he was. He was a cub in an adult's body, while Reniko's mother was wise beyond her age; that was very wise because Lusiko was not a young tiger. Korrikk had won her over though, however much younger he was.
"We may have come in contact with a tiger none of us will get along with." Ren warned her friends as they walked on.

Akelina poddled along after the two tigers, her short strides covering ground rather quickly as she followed them. Unlike the two of them, she knew of no memory of hers that would be awakened by the sight of the ravaged forest - it was curiosity that drove her to the site, curiosity and concern for Reniko and her family.
She glanced around her nervously as they drew closer - the very air was thick and heavy with the scent of ruin and death, and it greatly unnerved the little caracal. She had never smelt anything quite like it....
"We may have to come in contact with a tiger none of us will get along with." Akelina wondered about these words, hearing the bitterness in Ren's voice as she spoke them. Akelina instinctively trotted on a little faster to catch up to the two bigger cats, slinking along close behind them - if they were to meet a potentially hostile animal, she didn't want to appear too much of an easy target....
She glanced around her, green eyes shining and dark ears rotating atop her skull, adjusting to new noises as she heard them. Hopefully a possible encounter with a less-than-savoury cat would be the worst thing that would befall them....hopefully Ren's mother would not have bourne the fate that the three of them could not help but suspect...

loki padded along beside Reniko with Akelina close at his hind legs. He didn't speak a word but just listened and watched around them. He was not afraid of anything they would come against and he would ultimately protect his two new friends should they come across anything that threatened them.
Loki could sense Akel's fear of being smaller and less likely to be able to protect herself. However she did have the ease of being smaller therefore could fit into smaller hiding holes and could quickly leap up a tree.
The sky was dull and the more they neared the forest the air grew thick with the smell of burnt wood and smoke. Loki frowned he hoped they would not discover the worse scenario.
